GRADUATE PROGRAMS
- Focus and thereby enhance the University's activity and profile in graduate studies and research by targeting strategic areas
in graduate studies.
- Decrease the amount of time required to complete graduate programs.
Commentary:
- Graduate enrolment increased at both the Masters and Ph.D. levels in Fall 2001 compared to the previous year. There was
a significant increase in enrolment at the Masters level in Engineering, perhaps related to the slowdown in employment in
the high technology sector.
- The time-to-completion of Ph.D. students increased in 2000, although it decreased at the Masters level. Overall the five-year median completion time is 4.56 FTE years for a Ph.D. student and 1.67 FTE years for a Masters (discounted for terms
not registered). There is considerable variation between disciplines.
